Cole Haan SCORE!

I've been looking for nice shoes for my new job & I almost became delirious when I walked into the Cole Haan Factory Store at Jersey Gardens this afternoon. Everything in the store was 75% off. EVERY. THING. Obviously I made a mad dash for the shoes my size & when my mom met me I had an armful of shoes I was in love with. I ended up picking these two pairs... both originally almost $300. Well, my receipt said I SAVED $417!!! When I asked the cashier how long the 75% off sale was going to last, he said "Forever. As long as the store is at this mall." My response: "I'm going to have to avoid this end of the mall then."

I really, really, really don't think I'm going to be able to resist stopping at Cole Haan every time I'm at Jersey Gardens... The deal is just too good to pass up!

I Went For It: OPI Axxium Gel Polish

My guilty pleasure is a fresh manicure. I've had acrylics (in high school, people!), gels, regular manicures... Each type posed a problem: acrylics sucked, gels were expensive, limited in color & damaging, while regular manicures didn't last much longer than 4 days before chipping.

I found an answer to my manicure problems. Say hello to OPI's Axxium Gel Polish! This is a soak-off colored gel that doesn't chip. OPI promises a gorgeous, shiny manicure that lasts at least 2 weeks.

I had a hard time finding a salon near me that offered this service. Luckily, I stumbled across a small salon in Fanwood, NJ called Fanwood Nails that does OPI Axxium Gel manicures for $20! My sister was paying $35 in North Jersey.

Here are my nails in Big Apple Red. It was hard to stay away from my favorite fall colors, Lincoln Park in the Dark & You Don't Know Jacques, but I think it's a nice bright for the last leg of summer. I love how shiny they look & how there was no chance of me smudging them because they are dried & hardened under a UV light. SWEEETTTTTT!

I'll update again in a week on how they look... but as of right now, I can't stop staring at my mani!

Super Easy Coasters!

When Serg & I moved in, I had the hardest time finding coasters to keep our vintage coffee table safe from water stains. I finally found a glass set at HomeGoods but wasn't very impressed.

Well, I came across this blog: All Things Lovely that had instructions on how to make coasters with regular ceramic tiles! Today, I drove over to Home Depot & picked up a dozen white 4.25 X 4.25 inch tiles for $2.06. Then I stopped at A.C. Moore for some Outdoor Sealant for $3.50. I already had paper (tons of it), Mod Podge & some left over cork from a project that was an epic fail (I don't blog about those, lol).

I decided to cut 3 bird & 3 owl silhouettes on matching paper to add some fun to the coasters & this way people know which cup is theirs. I made a set for me & a set for a lovely friend. :)

Tada! What do you think? 2 sets of cute coasters for less than $6... Don't you just want to put your drink on one of these? ;)

Lil' Peanut Card

A friend of mine just had a precious baby boy & I couldn't fight the urge to make a card congratulating the new parents on their lil' peanut.
Of course, I used the "Create A Critter" cart... the peanut is a shift option on the elephant shape.

You're Sweet - Cupcake Card

This is my first project using the "Sweet Treats" cartridge... it was difficult to pick which adorable cupcake to use. I needed to send a thank you note to my dentist (she's a family friend) & what's better than something sweet?
I used Cupcake4 & the Card function in 5 inches on light pink cardstock. Then I cut the bottom wrapper (Shift function) in blue & the overlay (Layers function) in patterned paper. It was really easy & it fits in a regular card envelope.

Ahoy, Birthday Boy - Octopus Card

Sergio's nephew's 4th birthday is coming up this month & he's super excited that he's having a pool party! I am clearly obsessed with the Create A Critter cartridge; it has so many extras & cute animals, it's hard to take it out of my Cricut. I thought this octopus was perfect for the occasion!
