Busy Monday - 30 for 30 #28

Before every sales presentation, I get a little nervous & a flutter in my tummy. Well, today's presentation was for a 2 million dollar account & let's just say I was more than a little nervous. I thought I was going to sweat through my suit jacket, lol.
Blazer: Ann Taylor, Sweater: Loft, Pants: Gap, Necklace: F21, Earrings: Gifted

The weather today is so icky, I couldn't wait to get home to throw on some sweats & plop myself on the couch with my Nook. I'm really glad sweats didn't count for during the 30 for 30 remix because I would be screwed, lol. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is glad the challenge is almost over... 2 more outfits to go!

Three Things (or complaints?) - 30 for 30 #27

Shirt: F21, Pants: Loft, Belt: NY & Co., Shoes: UrbanOg, Watch: Coach

1. It was rainy & ugly outside today and I had to schlep to NYC on the train with my laptop & projector to meet with my boss.
2. I've pretty much had a migraine since last Thursday & this pain is getting old.
3. I don't like this picture at all but it's the only one I have of this outfit. I didn't want to miss documenting it so I don't have to drag this 30 for 30 out any longer.

Sorry! I promise I'll be more fun tomorrow...

I Miss When Thursday Meant "Thirsty Thursday" - 30for30 #26

This past Monday, Serg & I stopped by my parents' house quickly and I found a box of filled with high school & college pictures. I spent a good 20 minutes flipping through, giggling, reminiscing, & shaking my head at some of my outfits (trucker hats, anyone?) It's funny how even though it hasn't been that long since I've left college, my life has changed drastically. Gone are the days (5 to be exact, I went out Tues.-Sat.) of bar hopping, late night fat sandwiches at the Rutgers grease trucks, and pulling all-nighters. I was in bed by 8:30PM last night!!! Don't I look refreshed? lol

Shirt: NY & Co., Tank: Old Navy, Jeans: F21, Boots: Target, Belt: Gap, Earrings, F21

Thirsty Thursdays were often the best nights out at Rutgers... there were $2 well drinks and no one in their right mind had classes on Fridays. Well, today is Thursday & I have a fun-filled day of tabbing books for a giant sales presentation on Monday. I'll probably curl into bed by 9PM to watch Grey's Anatomy... and if I'm lucky, I'll stay awake for Jersey Shore, lol.

What a difference 7 years makes!
Me & my college roommate, 2003 (I told you I wore a trucker hat, lol)
Me & Catherine - Summer 2004

At least I have pictures to remind me how much fun I used to be, lol.

It's the Final Countdown!! 30for30 #25

Five more outfits to go!
Cardigan: F21, Dress: F21, Patterned Tights: Target (they're ribbed), Boots: Bandolino, Belt: Abercrombie, Watch: Coach

I did have a sales presentation today but since my boss sure as hell wasn't going to drive all the way to Baltimore to watch me, I decided NOT to wear a suit. I think I look professional enough for a tiny sales presentation... What can I say, I'm a rebel. A rebel who didn't want to sit in a car for 7 hours in a suit. Just don't tell my boss, k?

9/50 The Red Tent

This was a re-read for the "read a book about religion" category. I managed to finish it in a little over a day (I love working from home, lol). I'm giving this book a B; I enjoyed the way the story of Dinah is told.

On another note, I had to drive to Baltimore & back today and what kept me awake & sane was listening to the audiobook Mystic River. But, I can't stay awake much longer... off to bed I go. (Yep, at 8:15pm, lame).

Unexpected Day Home = Lots of Naps & Dinner Dates 30for30 #23 & #24

I was all set to drive to Baltimore this morning for a sales presentation. I made it to Dunkin Donuts near our house for a much needed cup of coffee when I got an email about it being canceled. WHOO! So I high-tailed it back home, threw on some sweats & slept, lol. Unfortunately, I'll still have to drive to Baltimore AND back tomorrow (sad face). Here's what I looked like before I threw myself on my couch:

Blazer: Ann Taylor, Pants: Gap, Shirt: NY & Co., Belt: Gap? (I've had it since the 7th grade, lol)

Since my mom is in California visiting my sister, my dad invited me out for dinner tonight, just the two of us. We've always had father/daughter dates in the past and I LOVE them.

Sweater: Target, Cami: F21, Jeans: F21, Boots: Target, Necklace: Henri Bendel

The highlight of my night was when I told him we hired our wedding DJ & he said, "Can he play Aventura?" lol. Gotta love him.

7 & 8/50

No time for a real post (traveling for work is always stressful no matter how long I'm gone) but I want to make sure I keep track of the books I read this year:

Sunday Funday - 30for30 #22

Just another typical Sunday: brunch with the parentals @ Raymonds, a quick stop at the mall to try on wedding bands, and silly movies & snuggles on the couch tonight. I couldn't ask for more!

Cardigan: F21, Tank: Old Navy, Jeans: F21, Boots: Target, Scarf: F21 (don't mind the tag hanging out, grr), Sunglasses: Juicy Couture

I wanted a detail shot of the ring I'm wearing... This is what Sergio gave me:
We cracked up for a good 5 minutes. Serg is getting good at taking creepy pictures of me. And yes, I did have the manicurist paint my ring fingers a different color on purpose (the jeweler asked me). My sister does it all the time & I figured I'd give it a try. Life needs a little silliness :)

Double Date Night - 30for30 #21

Sometimes I think a double date night can be more fun than a regular date night with just me & Serg... Don't get me wrong, I love date nights but it's really nice to get together with another couple. Tonight we had dinner at Maggianos with our friends Lindsey & Brandon. We love going out with them because we always have interesting, funny conversations and we all have tons in common. Serg and I are really lucky to have an awesome group of friends in our lives. :)

I can't believe I'm already at outfit 21!
Sweater: Express, Jeans: F21, Boots: Bandolino, Necklace: F21

I finally feel like I have the hang of putting things together & I think I have more than 9 combinations I can wear for work (not so much for casual days...). I'm sure once this challenge is over I'll be using my accessories more creatively than I did in the past. I have a new found love for my scarves & necklaces!

Action Shots - 30for30 #20

Another sweet Friday working from home :) My job can be stressful at times but it definitely has it's perks! Today I'm meeting with our wedding planner, Kisha from Pure Ambiance to meet with DJ for our big day. I think good music (and alcoholic beverages, lol) are key at weddings so I'm going to make it VERY clear that if I hear ANY synchronized dancing songs including but not limited to: the Electric Slide, the Cha Cha Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, the Macarena, or the Chicken Dance, the DJ will be putting his life at risk. No joke.

Today my awesome photographer Sergio told me to act "cute" while posing... I'm not sure what that means, but this is what happened:

Just waiting for Serg to tell me he's ready... Then....
BAM! Did I realize I only have 10 outfits left? Am I excited it's Friday? Or did I realize I needed to get some exercise in today? I dunno, but it did end in a LOT of squinty-eyed giggling...
Cardigan: F21, Tank: Old Navy, Jeans: F21, Sneakers: All Star, Scarf: F21, Belt: NY & Co.

I have a little secret to tell you... I'm cheating on my 30for30 outfits tonight! Serg & I have 2 parties to attend in NYC & I decided to give the rest of my closet a chance tonight (don't tell on me!)

What are your weekend plans?

Tucking In Makes a Difference - 30for30 #19

Being petite in the corporate workforce is a lot tougher than one thinks. Almost my whole wardrobe has to be a petite size or it'll have to get tailored. Lucky for me, I haven't had much difficulty finding 2Ps in work clothes at Ann Taylor, Loft, & Banana Republic, but sometimes I'm forced to get regular sizes & make them work for me.

Today I tried something new that made a huge difference. I follow a couple of petite fashion bloggers and today Extra Petite posted about one of her favorite ways to wear a cardigan: tucked into her skirt, making it look Prim & Proper. I NEVER tucked in a sweater or cardigan & at first I didn't think the look would work for me. The black cardigan I chose for my 30for30 remix is on the longer side (I like when it covers my butt in skinny jeans) but it didn't look so great with my pencil skirt:

It actually looks pretty awful to me (don't mind Fifi's butt, lol); my legs look shorter & my waist doesn't look very defined... So I did the unthinkable and tucked in the cardigan... then I added a belt to break up the different blacks. Viola! Don't you think it makes a big difference?

Cardigan: F21, Top: Loft, Skirt: Ann Taylor, Tights: Express, Shoes: UrbanOg, Belt: Aldo, Watch: Coach

Although this challenge has been a little difficult, I am loving how many new things I've tried & will continue to incorporate into my wardrobe. So if you haven't tried something new yet, give it a shot! You might like what you see :)

Exhaustion... 30for30 #18

For the last 9 weeks, Sergio has been getting up at 4:30 in the morning to go to the gym. I guess my body senses that he's no longer in bed & I'm usually up by 7:30. We must have been REALLY tired yesterday because Serg skipped the gym this morning & we didn't get up until 9! I never set an alarm because he's always up & I guess he turned his off... it was awesome, lol.

Even after that extra sleep, I'm really tired tonight. I had another sales presentation this afternoon which is a BIG deal because it's a huge district so the big boss tagged along. Just that pressure makes your day feel longer. I'm glad I added this navy suit with some fun tops for this challenge because I have two more sales presentations next week (in Maryland... sad face).

Blazer: Ann Taylor, Pants: Gap, Blouse: Loft, Shoes: UrbanOg

Tomorrow will be an easier day at an awareness meeting... whew! Until then, I'm looking forward to snuggling on the couch and watching Modern Family tonight. :)

Longest Day EVER 30for30 #17

Shirt: NY & Co., Dress: F21, Tights: Express, Boots: Bandolino, Belt: NY & Co., Watch: Coach
(even Fifi is sad I had to leave so early, lol)
Augh, 12 hour day today! I had to get up at the butt crack of dawn to get to Mahwah (which is an hour northwest, augh) this morning for an in-service on a technology program. I know I'm risking sounding like a horrible person, but I have VERY little patience explaining how to do anything on a computer. IT'S 2011!!! If you do not know how to work your way around Windows, you should be fired. Ok, that's a little harsh, but come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

So here I am, sitting in a gorgeous computer lab in an elementary school, booked for the WHOLE day (8am-3pm) to show 22 teachers how to set up their class list on an internet based program. I'm going show them how to do something that should take the NORMAL 21st century human being less than 5 minutes to learn. Not to mention there are webinars and "help" buttons on the website they can check out. Why am I here all day? Oh, because teachers are going to come to me whenever they have free time. Rather than just planning 20 minutes after school, I'm stuck in the boonies with no signal on my AT&T OR Verizon phone ALL DAY. (wahhh <--- Snooki style)

Oh, and then after this I have to go another district (an hour away) for a parent meeting from 6:30-7:30pm. I know, I know, the world's tiniest violin is playing the saddest song for me right now... but can I pout? ;)

Happy Valentine's Day! 30for30 #16

I love being in love and celebrating love so horray for Valentine's Day! I think even if you don't have a significant other, you can still enjoy Valentine's Day with your friends & other loved ones :)

This year Sergio & I made reservations at a nice Greek seafood restaurant called Limani in Westfield. Which is why I'm all dressed up! (p.s. I've never worn red lipstick before & I dunno how I feel about it. Feel free to tell me if I look like the Joker. I won't cry... too much, lol)

Dress: Loft, Belt: Aldo, Stockings: VS, Shoes: UrbanOg, Nail Polish: OPI Light My Sapphire
My amazing Valentine (it's Serg!) got me this amazing necklace with matching earrings from Henri Bendel (and flowers and chocolate, I know, I think I'll keep him around...). I was so excited because they match perfectly with the stackable rings my sister got me for my birthday! He's so thoughtful :)

Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day!

30 for 30 Recap: Outfits 1-15

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Most worn piece: F21 Jeans (I really should've added another pair considering I'm working from home a lot this month, but I'll just keep washing as needed.)
Number of pieces that have not been worn yet: 2 sweaters, 1 cardigan, 1 button down, 2 dresses
Favorite outfit: I think #3 & #14.
Least favorite outfit: #8, I hate suits.
What I've learned so far: a)scarves, belts, & necklaces are my BFFs, b)I'm doing laundry A LOT more than usual, c)getting dressed for work is easier than casual outings, d)why did I only pick ONE pair of jeans?!, e)this is much harder than super stylish people make it seem, f)that being said, I think I can finish this... maybe...

Sloppy Firsts: 6/50

Ok, so I think I know what my reading problem is right now... I've been picking books that fit into categories for The Nest Book Club Winter Challenge & not really books that I want to read or typically enjoy.

Such is the case with Megan McCafferty's Sloppy Firsts, the first book in the Jessica Darling series, which fits in perfectly with the "read a book you heard about first at the Nest Book Club" for 15 points but not so much with the type of book I like to read.

I'm going to give this one a C+. It definitely is not as bad as Sophie Kinsella's Undomestic Goddess (which I would give a D-). I did finish it rather quickly... & I kind of want to skim the rest of the series to find out what happens with Jessica Darling. But first, I think I'm going to drop out of the seasonal book challenge and focus on reading books for sheer pleasure & not points...

OOOHH We're Half Way There! 30for30 #15 & 100th post!

I'm so happy that I'm reaching two mile-stones in one post! I'm at my 15th outfit for the 30 for 30 Remix Challenge AND this is my 100th post :) I definitely have been blogging more than I was in the beginning & it feels great!

We had a typical Sunday morning today: brunch with my parents (at Vicki's in Westfield this time) & then we stopped over at Barnes & Noble for a cup of coffee and magazine reading. It was nice not to have too many plans for the weekend and just do what we felt like doing. Next weekend seems like it'll be a different story... we have 2 parties in one night on Friday (although it sounds like fun, it just stresses me out). But, I can't wait for Valentine's Day tomorrow! Serg & I have fancy plans... which means, a fancy outfit #16 ;) You'll have to wait for tomorrow to see, for now you're stuck w/ my quick & boring Sunday outfit.

Sweater: Loft, Camisole: F21, Jeans: F21, Sneakers: All Star, Earrings: Tiffany & Co., Necklace: F21, Bracelet: F21

Horray for Manis! 30for30 #14

There are very few things in life that I enjoy more than getting a manicure & I really loved going with my sister for some girl talk. I'm having such a hard time adjusting to my sister living on the opposite side of the country that my mom suggested inviting a close family friend, Stephanie to join me. Stephanie is a senior in high school and really sweet so I was happy to invite her (even though I was worried she would think I was a creepy 27 year old wanting to hang out... lucky for me, she didn't, lol). We got manicures near by & then grabbed some lunch. It was fun! I just hope I didn't give her any bad advice ;)

Sweater: F21, Tank: Old Navy, Jeans: F21, Boots: Target, Scarf: F21, Earrings: F21

Along Came a Spider : 5/50

Meeehhh, I was not impressed. I read this one for the "read a book by a black author or with a black main character" category in The Nest Book Club Winter Challenge, racking up 15 points. But didn't love it... didn't even really enjoy it... I can't put my finger on what I didn't like and I also can't put my finger on anything I DID like. What does a girl have to do to get a good read around here? I miss devouring books like I did with the The Hunger Games series. Any suggestions?

I need to pick up the pace to reach 50 by December...

Happy Friday! 30for30 #13

I'm so glad it's finally Friday! Serg & I don't have any plans for the weekend other than our last session of PreCana tonight so I'm really looking forward to spending time with him. Maybe we'll try to catch a movie :)

Apparently this dress is my Friday dress, I just realized I wore it last week when I had lunch with my mom (find that post: here). Before this challenge, I never wore dresses as skirts, but now I'm starting to see that it's a good way to remix a piece.

Sweater: Target, Dress: Loft, Boots: Bandolino, Tights: Express, Belt: NY & Co.
 Earrings: Henri Bendel

You may notice that the black boots I posted with my selection of 30 pieces were some beat up boots from Target. Since I was in desperate need of new black boots, my mom found these at ShoeWoo for an amazing price yesterday. I have such a hard time finding boots that zip past my ex-ballet dancer calves that I couldn't pass them up. Come on, real leather boots for $49? You wouldn't leave them either. I had not worn my Target boots during the 30for30 yet so I figured I could just swap them out. I also thought about swapping my purple sweater I didn't wear yet for a pair of leggings but Serg said I'd be cheating, lol. What do you think?
