Giving cobalt & gray another try

Blazer - United Colors of Bennetton, TShirt - H&M, Pants - Target, Shoes - Nine West, Necklace - Gifted, Watch - Coach

I recently purchased these pants at Target (found here) in both black and this blue. They're supposed to be "ankle" pants which in short people terms means "I don't have to hem them". I wasn't quite sure how I felt about the fit (because they are quite "skinny" aka tight) but after wearing them around the house for awhile, they grew on me. For work, I made sure my blazer was a little bit on the longer side so it covered some of my bottom (hence the ass pic for you readers, lol). I haven't styled them for everyday casual wear but I'm sure they will be a fun addition to my wardrobe.  I mean, who doesn't need a pair of bright blue pants?!

Petite Fashion Challenge 16: Summer Wedding

It's time for another Petite Fashion Challenge and this time Petite on a Penny came up with the idea:
Summer Wedding--Create an outfit for a summer wedding (the dress code is up to you). For bonus points (and this is what I'll be doing!) try to make your whole outfit, head to toe, come in under $100! (Or, exclude shoes and accessories to meet the $100 mark.)
I decided to go for a more casual summer "garden" wedding look where separates would be appropriate.
Top (dress) - F21, Skirt - Loft, Shoes - Charlotte Russe, Earrings - Henri Bendel

I bought this Loft light pink & silver skirt on super final sale with an extra 50% off. I love how girly it is and how it can be dressed up or down for different occasions. My top is actually a sequined dress I purchased at Forever21 when I was in college (worn here as a dress). Tucked into my skirt, it became a make-shift top. Usually when I go to weddings, I will pull a cocktail dress from my closet but I definitely think pulling pretty separates together can work for a casual, summer reception. What would you wear to a summer wedding?

Make sure you check out Petite on a Penny's blog to see all the other challenge participants!

Memorial Day Guest Post Over At The Baloney Bug!

Hey folks, happy Memorial Day! While you're all out enjoying the sun and BBQs, you can catch my post over at The Baloney Bug today :)
Joan, the gorgeous red-headed writer of The Baloney Bug, is out frolicking through Spain and asked a couple of bloggers to talk about some of their favorite things. Since my favorite closet staple is a blazer, I decided to style my fuchsia one for 3 different occasions: work, a lunch date/errands, and a girls' night out!

While you're over there, make sure you check out Joan's ridiculously well decorated apartment which was featured on Apartment Therapy three times.

Oh, and we can't forget her adorable dog, Brady!

Leave Joan some love while she's exploring Espana and follow her blog, The Baloney Bug for some more fabulous posts!

xoxo,

When in doubt, wear a sheath

Dress - Loft, Shoes - Nine West, Belt - NY & Co, Earrings - F21

It was strangely humid and warm today with the chance of a torrential downpour and I had to trek out to NYC on the train to meet with my boss. One thing that I hate about rainy days is getting the hems of my pants wet so I figured a dress would be the best option. I LOVE this black sheath from Loft because of the detailing on the neckline (which is high enough to cover the ginormous zit that appeared on my chest a couple of days ago. Seriously, it looks like my body decided to sprout a new head, augh) and because of the thicker "scuba" material it's made of to camouflage any lumps, bumps, and/or underwear lines ;) Oh and not to mention there are lovely seams at the waist and an exposed zipper. It's a great go-to little black sheath that I can dress up for fancy occasions or wear to work with a cardi or blazer thrown on over it. The cardigan was in my bag this time because I was frizzy and sweaty by the time I sat down with my Nook on the train, lol.

Doesn't get preppier than green & navy

Top - Loft, Cardigan - August Silk, Skirt - Ann Taylor, Shoes - Talbots, Watch - Coach, Sunglasses - Valentino

I recently switched out my fall/winter wardrobe for my spring/summer one and pulled out this skirt I purchased at Ann Taylor a couple of years ago when I was teaching. It's an awesome mix of different greens, turquoise, & navy in a fun print without being overwhelming. Since I loved the way navy & green looked here on St. Patrick's Day, I decided to pair the skirt with a navy shell & a green cardigan for work.

Every now and then I need a quick solution to a bad hair day and pulling it into a sock bun is as easy as it can get. You can find a tutorial here: The Sock Bun Secret.

We're Godparents!

Dress - Pink Rose (Loehmanns), Shoes - Moda Spana, Clutch - Betsey Johnson, Headband - F21, Earrings - Banana Republic

Serg and I were so excited when we were asked to be our friends' daughter's godparents! The baptism was yesterday afternoon and we had a lovely time at a BBQ with lots of yummy food & wine afterwards. We love this little girl so much and we can't wait to watch her grow up and be part of her life!

Coral & Turquoise

 Top - F21, Jeans - Marshalls, Shoes - Target, Earrings - F21

I didn't think these coral jeans would be so difficult to style, but I've been having a hard time. This is only the second time I wear them (1st time here). I'm not even sure how I feel about this outfit... but on the plus side, these sandals are super comfortable! How do you wear your coral skinnies?

No Pressure! (oh and my skirt cost less than a coffee at Starbucks)

Cardigan - August Silk, Tank - F21, Skirt - Loft, Shoes - Nine West, Watch - Coach

Since I work remotely, whenever I have to meet with my boss, we get together at a Corner Bakery because they have free WiFi and outlets for our computers, lol. It's definitely a more casual setting, which does not require a blazer, but I don't feel comfortable enough to dress down. I bought this skirt at Loft last summer for $4.97 and it was worth every penny. It's light, airy, and really cute.

By the way, my boss told me at this meeting that I will be presenting at our national sales meeting... no pressure... It'll definitely be a "sweat through my suit jacket" kind of day, yikes!

Nautical Stripes

Blazer, Top, & Jeans - F21, Flip Flops - Havaianas, Earrings - Gifted by my mom from Brazil

The weather is finally starting to perk up and I was happy to be able to go out in flip flops today :) This weekend we are having Mother's Day brunch for my mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and a close friend at our house so I ran around today to pick up some things for the menu. Hopefully I'll be able to pull off brunch for 13!

Any plans for the weekend?

There's nothing better than a piece that doesn't break the bank, is comfortable, and easy to pair with other pieces. Like my cobalt Target skirt (found here) and (also worn here). Where do you find affordable trendy pieces?

Houndstooth & Pink

Dress - H&M, Shoes - Moda Spana, Watch - Michael Kors

Serg and I attended our friends' daughter's first birthday yesterday at the new Ursino restaurant in Union. The food was delicious and we had a great time celebrating little Victoria's exciting first year.

I bought this dress at H&M about a month ago and thought I wouldn't wear it until next fall with some opaque black tights & boots. Luckily, the weather and occasion were perfect for the houndstooth and I can't wait to mix and match it with other pieces in my closet throughout the different seasons.

P.S. I forced Serg to make a cameo appearance in my photos today ;)
