Dressing the Bump - In Leather Panel Pants (again!)

Top - Lush (Nordstrom), Tank - Old Navy, Pants - Ann Taylor, Shoes - Moda Spana, Belt - Charlotte Russe

I'm not a fan of posting cell phone pics but at night the lighting is so bad inside that it's almost impossible to get a picture of outfits. And we were running late, lol.

Last Friday, Serg and I headed out to NYC to celebrate a good friend's birthday AND engagement at a whiskey bar. Since I'm clearly obsessed with these pants and they STILL fit (yippee!), they felt like the right option for the occasion. But I might need to find something else to wear for "going out" soon considering I've worn these pants EVERY time we have a night event to attend. Don't you think?

Bump Watch - 27 Weeks

How far along? 27 weeks (+1 day)
How big is baby this week?: 14.5 inches long and 2 lbs (like the head of a cabbage).
Total weight gain/loss: +8lbs
Stretch marks? They know better...

Sleep: Horrendous. I might cave and buy a stupid Snoogle or whatever it's called.
Best moment this week: Spending Christmas Eve with my parents.
Miss Anything? Eating without the fear of heartburn.
Movement: More pronounced this week.
Food cravings: I ate 5 clementines today, lol.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Almost everything gives me heartburn.
Symptoms: Heartburn & leg cramping.
Belly Button in or out? Same as last week.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Mostly happy. Very specific things irritate me lately, lol.
Looking forward to: My birthday on Sunday and NYE with our friends.
Baby/Nursery projects: Took the tags off all the toys and clothes and organized them by size. I made a crib sheet and will be putting together the closet organization system later.
Awkward comment of the week: "Wow, you got fat!" said by my mother's godson who had not seen me in months. Repeat to self: "It is wrong to karate chop a 10 year old in the throat, it is wrong to karate chop a 10 year old in the throat..."

Some Holiday Baking

Today Serg and I will head over to my parents to spend Christmas Eve together by eating yummy food, snuggling up to watch movies, and tearing open some presents at midnight. My mom is not a huge fan of baking so I always offer to bring the desserts since she spends so much time preparing the awesome meal. This year I took to Pinterest for some inspiration (duh) and decided on two recipes:

Caramel Apple Cake from The Charm of Home (recipe here)

Chocolate Cream Brownie Pie from The Girl Who Ate Everything (recipe here)

Hopefully we won't be too far into our food coma from the main course by the time dessert rolls around!

Enjoy your holiday everyone!

Dressing the Bump - Sunday Matinee

Shirt - NY & Co, TShirt - F21, Belt - so old I have no idea, Jeans - Motherhood Maternity, Watch - Target, Boot - Rocket Dog

Serg and I decided to avoid the last minute shopping craziness and head to the movies this afternoon to watch This Is 40. Doesn't he look happy in his reclining seat?

I love relaxing Sundays.

DIY Nursery Prints

I've been pretty picky about what I want up in the nursery and also pretty cheap. Without really knowing what I wanted in terms of bedding, picking anything out to hang on the walls proved to be a little difficult so a couple of weeks ago my mom & I headed out to Joann's Fabrics to see what they had. Even though the selection wasn't huge, I managed to feel completely overwhelmed. I didn't want anything too baby-ish, too bold, too boy-focused. But when my mom pulled out some gray fabric with a light turquoise and light orange modern pattern, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. We quickly found some coordinating prints and here's the gang:

My mom is going to make the crib skirt, storage bench cushion, a throw pillow cover, trim for the curtains, and a crib sheet out of these.

Knowing the general "color" scheme of the room helped me focus on what I wanted on the walls. I still have the adorable ABC animal print which my sister convinced me could fall on my baby if I hung it over the crib.

It's going over the changing table. But I needed something for the wall perpendicular to the vinyl tree.

I picked up two small and VERY LIGHT (I'm lookin' at you Nat!) white frames from IKEA and went off to Etsy to find something to put in them. With no luck. I couldn't find anything that would work with the color scheme and general feel that I wanted. So then I decided to just make them myself on Microsoft Word. A lot easier than searching through pages of stuff on Etsy. And we needed a little tribute to our Frenchie in the baby's room. After all, they are going to be BFFs (whether they like it or not).

Serg moved the crib away from the wall JUST IN CASE the frames fall. Thanks for making me paranoid, Nat, lol.
Overall I'm really happy with the way they came out. Not bad considering I only spent $4.99 for each frame and just printed them on my own printer on cardstock. I can't wait to see how the room will look once all the bedding/linens are done!

Dressing the Bump - Holiday Party!

Blazer - F21, Top - F21, Pants - Ann Taylor

This past weekend Serg and I attended a holiday "Secret Santa" party with some friends. Besides the obvious reasons for loving holiday parties (friends, food, and presents!), they are also the perfect excuse for wearing something sparkly. I paired my sequin tshirt with my faux leather panel pants from Ann Taylor that I am DETERMINED to get as much wear out of as possible since I bought them when I was about 8 weeks pregnant in the summer and worried that I wouldn't be able to squeeze my butt into them in the winter, lol. They aren't a perfect fit obviously, but with a little help from a hair elastic and my belly band, I can still pull them off (and on!).

Since Serg and I rarely take any pictures together, I set the tripod up for a shot of us before the party... and little Miss Fifi snuck in to look at us like "What the F are you two doing?" Thanks for the judgment and photobomb, Fifi! ;)

Total weight gain/loss: +7lbs
Stretch marks? Nope. Yippee!

Sleep: Meh, it's ok.

Miss Anything? Being able to shop without having to sit all the time.
Movement: Getting karate chopped as we speak.
Food cravings: Nothing this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still randomly feeling icky.
Symptoms: Is low tolerance for stupidity a symptom?
Belly Button in or out? Starting to poke through a little.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Half & half.
Looking forward to: Christmas Eve at my parents!
Baby/Nursery projects: We got a TON done this week. Picked up a rocker, hung up some frames... It's really coming along!

Dressing the Bump - Wear to Work

Blazer - Ann Taylor, Top - Old Navy, Pants - H&M (maternity), Shoes - Target

It's getting harder and harder to fit into things for work. Luckily these H&M maternity pants are super comfy and totally work appropriate. And of course, when in doubt, throw a blazer on it! ;)

Bump Watch - 25 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +6lbs
Maternity clothes? A mix between maternity pants and regular clothes.
Stretch marks? None. Everyday I inspect every inch of my belly, back, thighs, and ass while lathering myself in cocoa oil like a luau pig... I swear, Serg will hear a LOT of screaming from the bathroom if one emerges, lol.

Sleep: It good be better.
Best moment this week: Going to LA to see my sister and her boyfriend. It was a short trip but we needed the break and it's always great to see them.
Miss Anything? Bending forward easily.
Movement: He has NOT STOPPED since Monday. It's making sleeping and eating difficult.
Food cravings: Clementines. I had delicious ones in Cali and now I want more.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I'm randomly getting nauseous.

Symptoms: More leg cramping.
Have you started to show yet: Yep.
Gender: I'm growing a penis in there.
Labor Signs: n/a
Belly Button in or out? Sometimes it's out, sometimes it's in.
Wedding rings on or off? Still on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Going to see the NYC Ballet Nutcracker performance at Lincoln Center on Friday!
Baby/Nursery projects: I ordered multiple sizes and colors of paper lanterns to put together a mobile but haven't gotten to it yet.

(adding a new piece because it happens SO often, lol)
Awkward comment of the week: A pregnant woman at a presentation looked at me and asked "Are you pregnant too?" Um, I thought we don't ask that question. Then she tells me she's due Feb. 24 and asks when I'm due - March 26. Followed by a really bitchy, "Wow, you're a LOT smaller than me." How do you respond to that? "Thanks"? NOPE. Awkward laugh. Yep, that's what happened.

24 Weeks - 12/4/12

How far along? 24 weeks

Best moment this week: We got to see the baby again at our appt last week. Everything looks great and he's measuring right on target! Not to mention, he looks EXACTLY like his dad.
Don't tell Serg I posted this picture, k? (And yes, I'm a huge creep for taking it while he was sleeping, lol)

Miss Anything? Beer. As usual.
Movement: Tons of movement. Serg thinks it's weird and hilarious. He kicked so hard the other night that he knocked papers off my stomach.

Belly Button in or out? Everyday it tries to come out more and more, lol.
Wedding rings on or off? Still on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Not too bad this week but last week was a DOOZY. And I've been pretty weepy. I cried during a MTV show, that's how bad it's been.
Looking forward to: Seeing my sister and her boyfriend in California this weekend! HORRAY!
Baby/Nursery projects: Nursery fabrics have been purchased and I have one more pair of maternity pants (for work this time) I need to make.

Dressing the Bump - Night Out

 Blazer - F21, TShirt - Target, Pants - Ann Taylor, Shoes - Nine West, Bracelets - F21

Saturday night Serg and I went out in NYC for a birthday party at Le Poisson Rouge. I figured I'd be ok for awhile, we'd say hi, stay for an hour, then head home. I had no idea that I would have the energy for sweaty dancing until 3AM. Then energy for a Halal stop... getting us home at 4. I definitely got some funny looks while I grinded up on Serg to some dance hall. Whatever, how else do you think we got into this predicament? ;)

Dressing the Bump - H&M Striped Dress

 Dress - H&M, Jacket - Old Navy, Knee Socks - F21, Boots - Target, Belt - NY & Co.
(Fifi wanted to join in, lol)

Confession: I HATE maternity clothes. Seriously, the people who design them must have forgotten that most pregnant women fall between their 20s and 40s. NOT their 60s and 80s. Floral prints, "mom" butt jeans, frumpy dresses, and ugly sweaters seem to be the staple. Barf. While it's starting to be a challenge to find things in my closet that still fit, I'm determined to get the most wear out of stuff I already have for as long as possible. This dress was $17.95 and it's super stretchy. Most people don't think stripes are the way to go as you're getting bigger, but I find that it helps accentuate the belly as "pregnant" and not just fat, lol.

Weird pregnancy "symptom" - growth of new "baby" hairs that are causing some serious fly aways. Nothing is keeping these strands down. Oh well, lol.
